Police are opposing the release of a man on bail who was allegedly found slumped over the wheel of a stolen car with drugs in his possession on Sunday.

Jordan Hunt faced the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Monday to apply for his release from custody.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Mitch Prewett said the car Hunt was found in on Sunday allegedly had different registration plates on the front and rear of the car as well as a trailer attached.
The court heard attending police officers allegedly saw two knifes in sheets on the dashboard of the car, noticed damage to the car and scissors on the floor.
It is alleged they found a substance Hunt admitted to be the drug ice in his possession.
Senior Constable Prewett said the car had been reported as stolen from Mitchell Park on August 27 and property and tools were allegedly found in the car.
"The accused has an extensive criminal history and history of drug use and abuse," he said.
Senior Constable Prewett said Hunt was likely to continue to offend to support himself and was an unacceptable risk of committing further offences and failing to appear on bail.
He said Hunt had ties to the Northern Territory and had prior convictions for failing to appear on bail.
Defence lawyer Clare Moss said she was instructed Hunt had purchased the car on Facebook the day before, but could not provide evidence of this to the court.
She said the trailer was belonged to Hunt's boss and they had been collecting firewood together.
The court heard Hunt had previously lived in Darwin, but had been in Victoria for the past three months to see his children in Ballarat.
Ms Moss said Hunt's father would provide him with a place to stay and a job at his lawn-mowing business if he was to be released on bail.
Magistrate Letizia Torres said the bail application seemed 'premature' as she would need evidence from his father, the chronology of his previous offending and drug treatment in place before she could make a decision.
"I need proper evidence to meet compelling reasons for bail," she said.
The hearing was adjourned to next week.
