Creedence ($4) made it three city wins from four starts since joining Cumani's team in the Lockdown Legends Handicap, 2040m.
"He's such a star. It was a tricky race though. It gave me a few scares," Cumani said.
"The gate was what was really concerning. I thought if he breaks slowly then he could end up out the back and (with) too much traffic in the way.
"Luckily they stayed off the fence for a fair while and everyone was quite keen not to get locked in.
"That provided a bit of a gap for us to creep up and in the end he found the path through," he said.
"We've got some really ambitious targets and some slightly lesser ones.
"The tricky thing is that he's a horse that I'd love to give him three weeks between runs.
I think he really thrives with little racing. but the calendar doesn't really help us in that respect," Cumani said.
"We might look at something like the Naturalism, which is ambitious and only two weeks away.
"But there are other options we could look at as well."
Winning jockey Michael Poy decribed Creedence as a true stayer.
"I'm excited for the height that this horse might reach."
Poy said he believed Creedence would be better at Flemington, where he has already won twice for Cumani.
Creedence is nominated for the Melbourne Cup.
