THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for much of the southern highlands region of Victoria, including the Ballarat region. Damaging winds are expected across much of the state throughout Monday, and will not ease before Tuesday. Winds have already gusted to 52km/h in the Ballarat region this morning and expectations are they will increase as the day continues. Ballarat itself is heading for its warmest day since April 15 when the mercury peaked at 21.9 degrees. The city is expected to climb to 19 degrees by mid afternoon, but it is expected to cool down to the early teens by Tuesday.
