A man accused of escaping the Ballarat Police Station while in custody in July has faced court.

Grant Kelly, 29, allegedly escaped the Dana Street police station on July 20 for almost 24 hours. The Wendouree man was arrested on July 21 after turning himself in.
The Central Highlands Family Investigation Unit charged Kelly with nine offences, including escaping from custody, resisting arrest, criminal damage and assault offences.
Defence barrister Anna Dixon told the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Wednesday new charges had been laid and she needed to have discussions with the prosecution.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose adjourned the case to early October and acknowledged Kelly was on remand.
Kelly, who did not apply for bail, will next appeal at court via a video link from prison.
