WELCOME to the 2020 edition of Ballarat Seniors.
There's been much to be thankful for this year, and it's usually the small things that have brought the greatest joy; a wave from a neighbour, a phone call from a son or daughter you haven't heard from in a while, or just someone leaving your paper inside your front door out of the rain.
They are the day to day interactions we have with others, and sometimes, if you're shut in or lonely, they can become to mean a great deal.
In this edition of Ballarat Seniors there's advice on how to seek help if you're feeling isolated and information on local home care packages you might find useful.
This year's feature story is a profile of local artist, Criss Canning. The 73 year-old reflects on how design and style have influenced her career, and the part they've played later in life.
You'll also find stories on the joys of becoming a grandparent, the benefits of moving to a retirement village (and what to consider if you choose to stay at home), plus the positive aspects of living in a 20-minute neighbourhood.
There's also a quiz and fun puzzle to solve, and a delicious baked eggs recipe.
