Wilkins was appointed to his first season as senior coach of the Towners in 2020, but due to COVID-19 hasn't led the side in an official game.
He's committed to a return in 2021 and is already pleased with how his squad is coming together.
"Our priority is to retain our list and everyone has recommitted which is great," Wilkins said.
"In a way we are probably ahead of the game. We are not having to run around and try to pick up five or six players."
Wilkins said the forward end of the ground had been a focus to improve and hoped recruits Scott Howson (Bacchus Marsh) and Bailey Kemp (Kolora Noorat) could be key targets in attack next year.
The Towners finished just outside finals last season in ninth spot.
