The late season Antarctic blast will see up to 40mm of rain hit the Ballarat region over the coming days, and while it is unlikely, snow falls could also sprinkle on top of the nearby peaks.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting snow to about 900m, slightly above the height of Mount Buninyong and Mount Warrenheip, but there's every chance if conditions are cold enough, the snow line could fall.

"A severe weather warning is current for damaging winds with gusts up to 100 km/h about the western and central ranges today, with damaging wind gusts also possible in showers and storms across the south," he said.
"Subsequent cold fronts on Wednesday and Friday will bring further showers and lower temperatures."
