The Royal Melbourne Hospital has confirmed the 22-year-old is remains in a serious condition this evening after this morning's crash at Sebastopol.
EARLIER:
A MAN has been airlifted to hospital following a serious crash in Sebastopol earlier this morning.
Emergency services were called to Hertford Street just before 4.30am, where a young man had crashed into a tree near the McDonalds drive thru entrance.
The Ford Falcon sedan was extensively damaged and emergency services worked to free the sole occupant of the car, a 22-year-old Ballarat man, for some time. He had to be cut from the wreckage.
While paramedics worked on the man, an air ambulance was called and landed near the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club.
The man was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition with lower body injuries.
The man crashed into a tree located next to another tree, which a man was killed after smashing into in November last year.
The incident follows the death of a 71-year-old Burrumbeet man following a crash on Tuesday morning.
