Disability employment service EGF Solutions has teamed up with community conscious Kombi for a Cause and is offering 100 free coffees every Friday morning this month - no catch.
EGF Solutions' Amba Walker and Kyllie Garrett decided everyone could do with a pick-me-up amid the pandemic, so they teamed up for their Give Me a Break coffee project.
We just wanted to give people a break in these tough times and thought what a better than giving away coffees.
- Amba Walker, Give Me a Break
"We just wanted to give people a break in these tough times and thought what a better than giving away coffees," Ms Walker said. "Everyone loves a coffee break and we don't want anyone to miss out."
The Kombi van will, as always, be on the move sharing the java love about Ballarat every Friday in October.
For almost a year now, the sky-blue Kombi has been doing coffee runs about Ballarat with Ms Garrett donating 10 per cent of profits each month to a different charity.
Kombi for a Cause has been Ms Garrett's way of giving back. The Delacombe single mum underwent experimental stem cell therapy in Russia last year to halt her multiple sclerosis and was able to do so large due to community support.
This month, the Kombi will support Ballarat Autism Network.
EGF Solutions, which is part of the Gforce group, will cover the cost of the first 100 coffees each Friday. Kind Snacks have donated some extra treats for the cause.
Ms Walker said the Kombi project felt like a great fit but mostly this was just about trying to do something nice for the community.
Give Me a Break starts near the Victoria Park inclusive play space on Friday.
The Kombi's free coffee run will then continue with 100 free coffees at:
- Sebastopol (at the corner of Beverin and Vickers streets) on October 9
- Violet Grove near Wendouree Neighbourhood Centre on October 16
- St Patrick's Point at Lake Wendouree on October 23
- Finish back near the Victoria Park play space on October 30.
Free coffees are brewed from 10.30am.
