Samantha Lewin, now 22, appeared via video link from prison at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court online portal on Monday and pleaded guilty to 14 charges.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Steve Repac said the collision happened on March 20 this year and a police evidentiary oral fluid test indicated Lewin had taken methamphetamine.
The court heard police found cannabis and GHB in the car and checks showed Lewin had a learner's permit and was driving without a supervising driver in an unregistered car.
Senior Constable Repac said Lewin made admissions to smoking methamphetamine before driving from Geelong to Bacchus Marsh and said she must have fallen asleep when she veered into oncoming traffic.
She has a lot of potential but certainly needs help in getting off drugs.
- Roberta Page, defence barrister
Lewin was charged with new offences in May when police intercepted a car at Balliang in which Lewin was a passenger and she was found with zip lock deal bags containing a white crystal substance believed to be meth.
The court heard Lewin is also charged with refusing to nominate the person who was driving her car and speeding away from police in April and being found with GHB and methamphetamine in her possession in September.
Defence barrister Roberta Page said Lewin's life 'fell apart' when she was 17-years-old and moved from Bacchus Marsh to Geelong to live with a partner who was using drugs and already involved in the criminal justice system.
Ms Page said Lewin began using ice, which started her 'more criminal lifestyle'.
The court heard Lewin served time in youth justice detention for previous offences and improved her life when she was released, living with her mother in Bacchus Marsh, meeting a 'better young man' and getting a job at a cleaning company.
"She was doing really well until COVID resulted in her work being ceased," Ms Page said.
"Just before that her relationship broke down."
Ms Page said Lewin lost stability in her life and turned back to drugs.
Lewin has spent 27 days on remand.
"She has a lot of potential but certainly needs help in getting off drugs," Ms Page said.
Magistrate Ron Saines said he needed time to consider sentencing.
"There is no doubt in my mind it is appropriate a term of imprisonment be imposed," he said.
"Whether it is one month or more needs to be determined."
