The new volunteer-run facility, on a plot of land adjacent to the Buninyong Golf Club, will replace the more-central to the township, Learmonth Street headquarters and will be able to run meetings, training and conduct equipment maintenance.
The long-running plans to move the CFA sites was first proposed back in September 2015.
IN THE NEWS
Initially the CFA hoped to have a new Buninyong fire station at the corner of Palmerston and Warrenheip streets completed but discussions with landowners broke down, forcing the authority to look elsewhere.
The new proposal consists of three vacant allotments that have been grouped together and was exhibited by the City of Ballarat earlier this year.
Upon exhibit, it is understood there was one objection raised, but those issues have been resolved and construction should start soon
Assistant Chief Fire Officer at Fire Rescue Victoria Brett Boatman said it was hoped works would start within a few weeks.
"We've met all the outcomes of the planning process and if we get a favourable schedule for building, we should be ready to start operations on the site by mid next year," Mr Boatman said.
Plans for the new building show there will be space for parking for up to three emergency vehicles and their equipment in an area which also includes a three-bay motor room, workshop and storage rooms.
The western side of the building would include an office, turn-out rooms, multi purpose room, kitchen and toilets.
There will be up to 32 off-street car parking spaces to the rear of the building, with 17 spaces sealed and 15 unsealed spaces for times of high use.
There would also be two new crossovers onto Learmonth Street - a six-metre-wide one to the west with access to the car parking area and a 15-metre wide one in front of the motor room.
Another new six-metre-wide crossover would give vehicles direct access from Learmonth Street to the Midland Highway.
The total site area is stated at as 3,600 square meters.
The new CFA building will be the start of a series of likely works in and around the Buninyong Golf Club area with the club planning to knock down the current clubhouse and rebuild a new, smaller facility in the coming years.
Members will vote on three proposals put forward by the golf club in coming weeks, these included a renovation of the current clubhouse, a knock down and rebuild on the current site, or a new clubhouse stationed on the area where the current putting green sits.
