Ballarat-Redan's Jack Riding has exploded into the Ballarat Cricket Association season, scoring a century to lead the Two Swords to a memorable opening round victory.

Riding smashed 112 runs off 111 balls to anchor the club's first innings total of 277 at Wendouree Turf on Saturday. The score proved too good for Wendouree, which was dismissed for 242.

Thomas Le Lievre's knock of 66, offered some resistance for the Red Caps, while reigning EJ Cleary medalist Cole Roscholler, 44 off 47, was quick off the mark.
However he was dismissed by Two Swords Paceman Nathan Patrikeos, who wen't on to finish with figures of 4-15 in his first game back for the club.
Riding's score marked the first individual century of any player in the new BCA season. He was backed up at the crease by Jayden Hayes, who scored a solid 67.
Former Bushranger impresses
Meanwhile high profile East Ballarat recruit Blake Thomson has led the hawks to a 129-run win over Mt Clear.
Thomson's 65-run opening effort laid the groundwork for his side's first innings score of 195. The Mounties were dismissed for 136.
Oliver Hayes led East Ballarat's attack with bowling figures of 2-19, while teammate Darcy Thomson conceded only 23 runs off 10 overs.
