An application has been lodged with the City of Ballarat planning department, which is now being advertised to the public.
It proposes a "major promotional sign" for 8 Neerim Crescent, which lies in an industrial zone. The applicant is Transad Australia, which specialises in outdoor signs.
Unlike some of the more controversial signs proposed in the CBD, the planned billboard would will not be illuminated or animated.
Under the proposal, it would have a display area of 41.58 metres square and would be a maximum of 5.4 metres above ground, while stretching to 12.6 metres wide.

The application says the sign, which would be located to the east of Learmonth Road, would have negligible impact on the surrounding area. Its proponent says "it does not have access to or impact on any significant views or vistas."
