Hepburn Shire chief executive Evan King said the upgrade at the town's recreation reserve would feature gender-inclusive changerooms, umpire facilities, accessible public toilets and a duty room.
King said it was likely the project would be taken to tender next week and that construction would start during January 2021. It's anticipated the works would then be completed in the first half of the football season.
"This is great news for not only the Hepburn Football Netball Club and the Hepburn Cricket Club, but for all users of the recreation reserve," he said.
The project is being developed by council and the Burras, in partnership with the state government, the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria.
