Lamb has been back and forth between Redan and Central Murray league club Koondrook-Barham throughout his senior career.
He last played with the Lions in 2017.
Redan coach Jarrett Giampaolo, who is a long-time teammate of Lamb, said the Lions 2011 premiership player was back living and working in Ballarat.
Giampaolo said it was a "pretty easy transaction" to get him back to Redan.
He indicated there was never any doubt that if Lamb was playing in Ballarat it would be with the Lions.
Giampaolo said being in his late 20s Lamb still had much to offer as a footballer.
"He's pretty fit and still more than capable of playing some really good football as he has in the past."
Giampaolo said having Lamb back at the club was a real bonus.
Lamb played his juniors with Redan, starting in under-12s.
The 2011 finals series was a breakout moment for Lamb, who from there not only established himself as one of Redan's best, but also a prominent on-field figure in the BFL.
He was runner-up in the 2013 BFL best and fairest, the Henderson Medal, and went onto twice be selected in the BFL team of the year.
Lamb first played with Koondrook-Barham in 2014 and 2015 before going back to Redan in 2016.
He has again been at Koondrook-Barham for the past two years.
Giampaolo said Redan was still talking with a few potential recruits, but nothing had been confirmed.
The Lions are aiming to start pre-season training on November 17, with the shape it takes depending on COVID-19 return to play protocols
