East Ballarat recruit Jack Lalor has smashed 93 runs to lead the Hawks run chase over Golden Point in a one day clash in the Ballarat Cricket Association on Saturday.

The Hawks, 2-215, successfully chased down the Pointies, who finished with a first innings score of 8-214 at Russell Square. Lalor, whose effort with the bat anchored East's run chase, said he felt great in the middle.

"Early on we probably didn't bowl the way we liked but we finished well," he said.
"They were about 5-150 in the 35th over and we knew if we stuck to our plans and executed well we were a chance."
Lalor was backed up at the crease by Englishman Lewis Hodgins (43 off 69), while opening bowler Oliver Hayes claimed a handy 2-18 with the ball.
Manjula De Zoysa set the pace for Golden Point with 74. The win marked the third in as many matches for East. They are now one of two unbeaten sides in the competition.
"It's an awesome start to the year and hopefully we can keep going," Lalor said.
Elsewhere Brown Hill have recorded its first victory of the season with a win over Napoleons-Sebastopol. The Bulls, 4-108, easily ran down Naps-Sebas, who made a first innings score of 106.
Brown Hill's Fraser Hunt was dominant up front with bowling figures of 5-22, while Mitchell McLaughlin's knock of 42 laid most of the groundwork with the bat.
Napoleon's Janath Tissera offered some resistance with 24.
