A group of eighteen artists from Soldiers Hill will exhibit their work in a range of forms including drawing, weaving, photography, painting, furniture design, printmaking and sculpture.
Soldiers Hill Artist Collective deputy chair Ian Kemp said the collective formed about four years ago to bring together active artists in the suburb.
"If you're an artist you are often working alone, but working with other people gives you lots of ideas," he said.
"You can collaborate, show and share your work with people. We can exhibit together rather than trying to get a whole solo exhibition up."
Mr Kemp said the group held a number of art exhibitions throughout the year and to have the opportunity to show their work at the new art space was terrific.
"We exhibit our work in some of the cafes and shops in Soldiers Hill but this is taking us right into the centre of arts precinct in the CBD," he said.
"That gives people who wouldn't normally go up to see our work an opportunity to pop in."
The new exhibition is called Emergence to reflect artists emerging from their studios to exhibit their work created throughout the pandemic and people getting out again to visit art exhibitions.
Work of the 25 Soldiers Hill Artist Collective members is also on display at Patterson's Butcher Shop, the window of James East and Associates Accounting and The Tin Roof cafe.
"What you see with SHAC is community art practice," Mr Kemp said.
"Not only are the artists producing the work and showing it in the local area but we have people who are running businesses who collaborate with us to ensure the work gets out."
The Emergence Exhibition will run at Art Space at 14 Lydiard Street North from November 25 to December 20.
The exhibition is open Wednesday and Thursday 10am to 4pm, Friday 1.30pm to 7.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
All work exhibited can be purchased.
