Melbourne-based coach Adam Grinholz has been appointed for the 2021 season. He will take the helm when the club tests its might in next year's National Premier League three competition.
"I'm tremendously excited and honoured to be here, to be a part of Ballarat City Football Club," Grinholz said on Friday.
"This is a first-class organisation. I've always had an outstanding experience when I've been here and coached against Ballarat City.
"I'm thrilled and grateful to have the opportunity to lead this team."

Grinholz comes to Ballarat after coaching Melbourne University's senior women's team in the Football Victoria state league one competition. Prior to that, he was at Brunswick City in the National Premier League two division, where he came up against Ballarat City.
"I have coached in Ballarat maybe 10 times," he said.
"I've coached against some of the younger players and they have a really good group.
"They have some smart and intelligent players and also some amazing younger players."
Grinholz takes over following the departure of former coach Jonathan Davey, who was unable to commit for 2021. Although he will inherit a young list, Grinholz was adamant he was here to win.
"We expect to play and train at an intensity level that brings the best out of everyone," he said.
Ballarat City FC director of football operations Laura Brady said Grinholz's analytical nature made him the perfect fit for the role.
"He will take a strengths-based approach which I am confident will extract the best from the squad," she said.
"We are excited to welcome a terrific football thinker to the team."
Ballarat City FC chairman David Sproules said he was looking forward to seeing what 2021 had in store.
