Pete Baguley was shopping at the Eastwood Street Coles on Monday morning, about 10.30am. When he went to pay the worker at the check-out said he only owed 50c for his groceries as the woman in the previous aisle had paid for him.
"There were two check-outs going and she was in the next one to me. She had a bunch of $2 coins and she just handed them to the girl at the check out," Mr Baguley said.
"When I went to pay, the check-out lady said to me that I only owed 50c, because the rest had been paid for.
"I pulled out a $20 and they gave me $19.50 back. I was in shock. The woman just walked out."
Mr Baguley said when he picked up his groceries he went out to the carpark to try and find the kindhearted stranger, but she had already disappeared.
"I just want to find her to say thankyou but I couldn't find her anywhere. She was a lovely looking blonde lady," he said.
"I just thought what a lovely gesture, how beautiful is that? You hear of a lot of bad things in the world, but there's a lot of good out there as well. It shows that we are still a community and there are people who look out for others.
"I felt quite embarrassed by it all, but I thought 'gee, that's lovely'. I just want to say thankyou to the person, whoever you may be."
