The Courier received news on Wednesday that Mars Stadium was now scheduled to host a match between Western United and Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday, March 7.
It's expected kick-off will be at 6pm.
9.40am: Ballarat has lost one of its two A-League fixtures for the upcoming season due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The January 12 match, originally scheduled to be played at Mars Stadium, will instead be played at Geelong's GMHBA Stadium.
However, it is hoped that another fixture will be arranged for Ballarat later in the season.
Western United, which was set to host Wellington Phoenix, made the announcement on Wednesday morning.
The Geelong stadium has a capacity of 36,000 compared to Ballarat's 11,000, allowing for more people to enter the gates.

"It is the club's aim to bring football back to as many fans as possible and with COVID-19 crowd restrictions still in place," Western United said in a statement.
"The club is working with Ballarat City Council and Football Australia to schedule the Ballarat Mars Stadium match later in the season, when hopefully restrictions on attendance have eased."
There has been no announcement regarding Ballarat's other A-League match for the season, which is scheduled for May 22.
The last home and away match for the season is scheduled for May 31.
