Tail-order batsman Sam Hope and Jack Landwehr produced a 53-run partnership to chase down the Bulls' first innings score of 155 with one wicket to spare at Western Oval.
Hope sealed victory with two balls remaining by hitting a four before being mobbed teammates and coaches. He said it was the bestt moment of his career.
"I said to Jack if we can get to the last overs we might be in with a chance," he said.
"I didn't think we were a sniff at 40 away, but once we got to the last three overs I thought it was possible."

Victory looked imminent for the Bulls, who had the Two Swords on the ropes at 5-35. Jayden Hayes' knock of 42 provided some stability before he was dismissed, paving the way for Landwehr to step to the crease at 9-103.
"It's not supposed to be our job but it happened to be our job and we got it," Landwehr said.
The pair endured until the final over, needing nine runs off six balls to win. A costly overthrow enabled them to steal some vital runs before edging closer to the target. Hope's four was the icing on the cake.
"That overthrow set the tone for the over," Hope recalled.
"We felt their wheels starting to fall off."
The match marked only the second senior appearance for Landwehr, while Hope has been in and out of the line-up all season.
Landwehr said he was happy to deliver for the club.
"There are ones players to come back in and they'll be looking at us to drop down but it's good to show we can hold a bat," he said.
Hope finished on 39 runs, while Landwehr scored 19 and recorded bowling figures of 3-18.
East Ballarat in pole position
East Ballarat will enter the Christmas break clear at the top of the BCA ladder after dispatching Wendouree in a top end clash on Saturday.
The Red Caps, 156, were unable to account for East's first innings score of 8-194 at Wendouree Turf.
A knock of 57 from Wendouree opener Cole Roscholler kept the chase alive for the club, which sat at 4-61 midway through the first innings. But five scalps from Hawks paceman Darcy Thomson helped keep the Red Caps well short of the total.
He finished with figures of 5-40.
Jacob Eyers (49) anchored East's first innings score with the bat, following a disastrous start to the innings which saw the club at 1-3 after three overs.
He was backed up by player-coach Tristan Dixon, who recorded 43 in his first game back from injury.
Hollow feeling for North Ballarat and Golden Point
Meanwhile North Ballarat and Golden Point began the Christmas break on a hollow note after playing each other to a draw at Northern Oval.
The Roosters, 9-191, were unable to pass Point's first innings score of 7-191.
North controlled its destiny, needing six runs off the final over to claim victory. However a timely run out saw Sam Jackson (37) head to the sheds and Mitchell Nicholson step to the crease.
North could have stolen the match with a four off the last ball but it was not to be.
"It's hollow, you don't know what to think," Nolan said.
"You are happy to get three points but at the same time you are so close to getting the six."
North were optimistic at lunch having kept the visitors under 200.
But a cluster of wickets left North 32 runs off the target with two wickets to spare.
"We thought we did a good job with the ball, it was a good wicket to bat on, but we lost a few wickets at bad times," Nolan said.
Leigh Lorenzen (40) led the run chase for the Roosters. He was backed up by Jackson and Nolan with 36.
Ash McCafferty claimed figures of 3-35, while Daniel White (45) did the balk of the work for Golden Point.
Elsewhere Darley handed Mt Clear its first defeat since round one after dispatching the Mounties by 75 runs.
The Mounties, 9-96, were unable to chase down the Lions' score of 155 at Darley Park.
Wickets fell cheaply and often for Mt Clear, which sat at an alarming 7-43 at one stage.
Darley paceman Dayle Locke had a field day with figures of 4-27, while Danza Hyatt did most of the damage with the bat with a knock of 73. John Butler top scored for Mt Clear with 37.
Over at Napoleons Turf, Buninyong defeated Napoleons-Sebastopol by five wickets after chasing down Naps-Sebas' first innings score of 206.
