This will be a virtual meeting, broadcast live via City of Ballarat for the public from 7pm.
Janet Dore returned to the role as a stand-in chief from early June following the sacking of chief Justine Linley as a result of an adverse Ombudsman's report tabled in May.
The new CEO is expected to be in place in early 2021 for a five-year contract, according to a statement from then-mayor Ben Taylor when the role was advertised in late August.
The contract of the interim CEO Janet Dore lasts until end April 2021, or until the appointment of a new CEO if that happens sooner.
Outspoken council water and former mayor John Barnes, who has worked as both council officer and councillor, suggested at the final council meeting last year that key performance indicators should be seen by the public.
It is unclear was further details will be made public in the meeting tonight.
The Courier's council reporter Jolyon Attwooll has described the City's chief role as: "a strange, balancing act of a job: on the one hand the role requires someone who can be a leader, a mentor, a motivator, a mediator, as well as someone who guides councillors and reinforces clear boundaries at the same time as being their sole employee".
