Aiming at three flags in a row, East Point has secured Kyabram premiership player Aaron Hayes.
He played in the Bombers' 2016 and 2017 flag sides, but missed out on being part of a third Goulburn Valley league grand final victory in 2019 owing to injury.
East Point football manager Dean Hetherington said Hayes had fallen into the Kangaroos' lap, having moved to Ballarat with his partner and star netballer Emma Ryan.
Ryan is also reuniting with East Point, having won the BFNL A grade netball best and fairest in 2014 while playing with the Kangaroos.
Hetherington said it had all worked out well for the club, with the addition of Hayes an unexpected bonus.
Curiously, East Point is the third club he has signed with since the end of 2019.
The midfielder initially signed with Edenhope-Apsley in the Horsham District league, with Edenhope being Ryan's hometown.
Then early last year he had a change of mind, announcing his intention to return to his hometown Nullawil in the Golden Rivers league.
COVID-19 shutdowns ultimately meant he did not play anywhere in 2020.
East Point has added the likes of CHFL high flyer James Lukich (Waubra) Lachie Barber (Kangaroo Flat), Sam Cue (Springbank), Taylen Bin Busu (East Kimberley FL, WA), Chris Harry (Lower South West FL, WA), and Harry and Jack Ganley (Ararat Rats) since its win over Sebastopol in the 2019 grand final.
