More than 4000 households and businesses are without power in the southern suburbs of Ballarat this afternoon.
It is not yet known what caused the outage, although the Powercor website identifies the fault as being at the Midland Highway at Magpie.
Customers have lost supply across Mt Helen, Sebastopol, Buninyong and Delacombe, as well as areas further south of Ballarat.

According to the Powercor website, power is expected to be restored at 5pm.
"Network controllers and ground crews are working as quickly and as safely as possible to get all customers back on supply," said a Powercor spokesperson.
"We're investigating what caused this outage and we thank customers for their patience as our crews work to restore power.
"We are continuing to keep customers updated on restoration times via SMS alerts and our website."
