Buninyong began round 10 six premiership points outside the top six, while Golden Point was another three points back and in desperate need of a victory.
With wins they have now closed down the gap as a result of sixth-placed Ballarat-Redan losing to Wendouree at Alfredton.
Skipper Liam Brady led the way for Buninyong with an unbeaten 110 as it cruised past Brown Hill's 192 with six wickets in hand at St Patrick's College.
Josh White anchored the Pointies with 76 not out as it made 3-166 with seven overs to spare in reply to reigning premier Darley's 165 at the Eastern Oval.
Danza Hyatt was the Lions' linchpin with 64 at the top of the order.
Wendouree batted Ballarat-Redan out of the game from the outset.
Sam Miller, 73, and Cole Roscholler, 51 put on an opening stand of 133, then Heath Pyke went to work in the middle order with 59 at the Red Caps compiled 7-273.
Despite Ryan Aikman getting 73, Ballarat-Redan was always well behind the required run rate and was all out 158.
North Ballarat, 8-235, was made to work by Napoleons-Sebastopol, 200, which chased galliantly.
Dylan Achison, Leigh Lorenzen and Mick Nolan each made half centuries for the Roosters and then tearaway paceman Ash McCafferty picked up six wickets.
