A man has died after a car and truck collided on the Western Highway near Great Western on Saturday morning. According to Victoria Police Media, investigators have been told a car and a truck collided on the Western Highway about 10am. The driver and only occupant of the car, believed to be a man in his 60s, died at the scene. The male driver of the truck was trapped in his vehicle for a short time before being released and taken to hospital for treatment. His female passenger did not require treatment. The Western Highway was closed at Locke Street while police began investigations - the circumstances surrounding the collision are still being established. Motorists should allow extra time for the detour using Stawell-Avoca Road to Navarre, then take Ararat-St Arnaud Road to return to the highway.
