Bureau of Meteorology Duty Forecaster Christie Johnson said it was likely that up to 10mm would fall this evening, possibly more in localised areas that thunderstorms will impact, with another up to 10mm to fall throughout the morning on Tuesday.
The change itself will come up from the south, with many coastal areas including Geelong and areas of south-east Melbourne already much cooler.
As of 1.30pm, there had been little fire activity in regional Victoria.
Ballarat will almost halve today's maximum tomorrow and Wednesday with tops of just 20 and 19 expected over the coming days.
We were expected to peak at 37 on Monday.
The change will see winds divert from a north-westerly to a south-westerly this evening.
However, after Wednesday, it promises to be glorious across the city with mostly fine tops of 24 or 25 expected for the remainder of the week, however there is a chance of a trough coming through on Friday which the bureau says it will continue to monitor.
