At least two of the three car fires in rural areas since Saturday have involved stolen cars, police have confirmed.
Fire crews were kept busy with a pair of car fires on Wednesday, with one on Kopkes Road in Haddon about 5am, and a second at Millbrook on the Yendon-Egerton Road about 12.30pm.
While police are investigating the Haddon fire, according the CFA, local police confirmed the Millbrook fire involved a stolen car with stolen numberplates.
This followed another daylight rural car fire, with police confirming a car believed to be stolen was destroyed near Springmount on Saturday afternoon.
"Emergency services were called to the intersection of Kingston Road and the Midland Highway about 4pm following reports a car was on fire," a police media spokesperson said in a statement.
"The Ford utility, believed to have been stolen from a Ballarat address overnight, was extensively damaged."
