The group of 18 children of various ages, all who have endured trauma or who have an ill family member, were accompanied by 20 adults on the Cops N Kids camp.
Two of the 'adults' were children who had been on the camp last year but who had since turned 18 and wanted to return to help.
Departing Ballarat on Friday afternoon, the group arrived in Queenscliffe and enjoyed the first night at the camp.
On Saturday morning, the group split into two (to be COVID safe) for an adventure-packed day on the coast.
While one of the groups explored the town on foot, the other ventured down to the water.
Jumping on a boat, operated by company RedBoats, they enjoyed an experience of a lifetime.
"They had an exceptional time," Cops N Kids president, Sergeant Dave Collins, told The Courier.
Each child was given an opportunity to steer the boat for a few minutes as they all took in the sights.
From curious dolphins swimming up beside the boat to spotting an old submarine, the group also raced out against another big boat going out to sea and squealed as they were sprayed by the ocean.

They also spotted a group of playful Australian Fur Seals sunning themselves on Chinaman's Hat.
After the second group enjoyed its turn, everyone returned to the camp for lunch before they all travelled to Barwon Heads' Airport where each was taken on a spectacular flight with Geelong Helicopters.
Two helicopters took each child and carer on a flight and Sergeant Collins said each child was given the choice of flying over Ocean Grove, Geelong or Torquay.
The day concluded with dinner and a walk along the beach, before a campfire was built and marshmallows toasted.
On Sunday, the group spent the day at Geelong water park - Adventure Park - before returning home.
Sergeant Collins said the weekend was "fantastic".
Everyone had an absolute ball
- Cops N Kids president, Sergeant Dave Collins
"Everyone had an absolute ball," he said. "To get away from home for a good weekend away was exactly what everyone needed."
The February camp is one of two Cops N Kids camps organised each year, made possible by the generosity of volunteers and businesses. The second camp will be hosted in November.
