Now is time for the spotlight to be on the Ballarat Arts Foundation lead, who works tirelessly to support the region's promising performing and visual artists.
While Ms Nicholson is well known for her passion in performing arts, she is best known for singing. Dancing, particularly ballroom dancing, is a completely new challenge in her Dancing With Our Stars campaign.
In The Ballarat Foundation gala event, Ms Nicholson is preparing to step out in the Excelsior, a new vogue routine with a slow foxtrot rhythm. The moves might not necessarily be complex, Ms Nicholson said, but adding in the head, arms and legs altogether is proving a full body work-out demanding mental alertness.
IN OTHER NEWS
Mr Thomas has offered unsponsored hours to help polish off the routine before the March 20 showcase.
Working in the not-for-profit sector in Ballarat for years, Ms Nicholson said she knows firsthand how generous and supporting people and organisation were in this community.
Ms Nicholson wants to offer a strong dedication in her dancing with so many strong supporters getting behind her cause in a "whole community approach".
All money raised supports The Ballarat Foundation's suite of programs to help end cycles of disadvantage in the region.
"Events like this reinforce home committed Ballarat as a community is in coming together for a good cause. I think that always underpins lifestyle, connections and how welcoming Ballarat is as a city for visitors and for people looking to move here," Ms Nicholson said.
"This creates a sense of belonging and purpose for those who live here, that in turn inspires participation and delivers positive outcomes for so many."
MORE DANCING INSPIRATION
Ms Nicholson, sponsored by Country Club Living, could hardly wait to hit the dance floor after being unavailable for the inaugural dance-off in 2019, then sidelined during the pandemic.
Dancing With Our Stars' 10 contenders joined forces last weekend to start working on a group dance . This was the first chance for them all to properly meet and test their new skills.
Some have had glimpses of rivals on the dance floor but Ms Nicholson said it was lovely to finally "put a body to the faces" she had seen in promotional materials.
Dancing With Our Stars will be streamed live online from Civic Hall, March 20. Support Ms Nicholson: dancing-with-our-stars.raisely.com/paula-nicholson.
