A 'Keep Left' sign at the corner of Doveton and Dana Street has once again been flattened by an unsuspecting driver, with some nearby residents claiming this has happened dozens of times that the same sign has been taken out.
Ballarat central resident Mary Rhyne said it had become a running joke in her family that "it was down" again.
"You turn right there and you see the one which is behind, but you always miss the front one that sticks out onto the road," Ms Rhyne said.
"It's a bad enough intersection as it is, because whenever you turn right from Dana Street, you need to be watching the traffic coming down the hill, then at the last second you see the sign.
"My husband actually hit the kerb a while back when the sign was already down, he had to get a wheel alignment, but as it was already down, fortunately it didn't cause too much damage."
While Dana Street is a council-controlled road, Doveton Street is controlled be Regional Roads Victoria.

Ms Rhyne said she had contacted both Regional Roads Victoria and the City of Ballarat about the signs, which had been constantly replaced.
"Whenever you contact them, they say they will look into it. They have just constantly been replacing the signs," she said.
"Perhaps instead of putting up a new sign, do something different with it. There's no reason for it to be there, there's one further up on the traffic island. There's got to be a better way to deal with the issue by just placing another sign on and waiting for it to be hit again."
A similar situation also exists at the corner of Loch Avenue and Creswick Road where the City of Ballarat has recently installed a larger 'Keep Left' sign which has a grey plastic border around it.
The sign, which sits in the middle of the traffic bump, has not been hit since the new-look sign was installed earlier this year.
On Wednesday afternoon, Regional Roads Victoria staff were once again out replacing the sign at Dana and Doveton streets.
The authority confirmed that the sign had been replaced 20 times in the past five years and that reviews were constantly being carried out.
Regional Director (Grampians), Department of Transport Michael Bailey said thousands of signs were in need of replacement each year.
"Roadside signs are an important tool in keeping people safe on our roads and our crews regularly check the network for damaged or aged signs," he said.
"This maintenance season we are replacing about 30,000 roadside signs across the state."
