The letters begin below.
To be honest it's about time.
Anything that increases the time that can be spent at Ballarat's shining light (pun intended) has to be a positive thing.
My hope and only worry is that the Ballarat council will refuse to take the opportunity to look to the future and go green by using solar or wind to power the low energy LEDs.
The technology is available why not use it. Look to the future Ballarat.
Darren Dobin, Sebastopol
The great number of lighting poles will detract from the natural look of the lake precinct.
As an early morning runner for many years I understand the notion that the lights will make it safer for runners, but I'm not convinced it will come without diminishing the natural beauty.
Robert Thurman, Lake Wendouree
Lighting will be an added attraction for Ballarat and should look great, but why not solar powered lighting, like around the Blue Lake in Mt Gambier?
This would save thousands of dollars and avoid the need for channeling kilometres of power line.
David Edwards, Lake Wendouree
The plan sounds good, but I am afraid given the snails pace at which the whole idea is proceeding most of us will never be able to reap the benefits as we will be in nursing homes by the time it is completed!
Pat Cerra, Miners Rest
