Buninyong MP Michaela Settle had asked locals whether the V/Line/PTV bus stop on Warrenheip Street should be relocated to create more space for car parking, outdoor seating or green spaces.
Despite 70 per cent of respondents backing a move, safety concerns surrounding a potential relocation have led to her supporting the bus stop to stay at its current site.
Safety concerns were raised last year when a runaway bus collided with a car on the busy street, damaging a historic veranda.

"I do not support moving the bus stop as local school students use the pedestrian crossing, elderly and disabled need a stop close to amenities and V/Line passengers, waiting late at night, need shelter," Ms Settle said.
Streetscape improvement works are due to start in the area before June 30, including halving the size of the bus stop, adding additional parking and a garden bed to replace the large section of cement at the stop, leaving a smaller disability-friendly section of concrete.
