One of the accused, James Davis, faced the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, and made no application for bail.
According to charge sheets seen by The Courier, he is charged with stealing a sedan worth $36,000 from an address in Lake Gardens on Tuesday, and $40 worth of fuel from a petrol station in Wendouree.
He is also charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously while under police pursuit and disqualified, with a separate charge for recklessly engaging in conduct while dangerously driving a stolen vehicle while pursued by police, potentially placing a person in danger of serious injury.
He also faces charges of driving a motor vehicle in the vicinity of a police officer - an emergency worker on duty, the charge specifies - knowing the officer was there and "intended to expose (the officer) to a risk to safety, while knowing the car was stolen, as well as recklessly driving a motor vehicle so that damage was caused to an emergency service vehicle.
Following a search, he was also charged with possessing three pairs of rubber gloves "for use in connection with a theft", and "deal with property, namely two pairs of sunglasses, suspected of being the proceeds of crime", the charge sheet states.
Davis was on bail at the time and faces two breach charges for allegedly committing indictable offences.
He'll return to court on July 1 for further mention, as well as a committal mention for separate dangerous driving charges from November.
His lawyer mentioned Davis had sought treatment for broken ribs.
