Police units and State Emergency Service crews are continuing the search around Daylesford for missing man Esteban today.
The search is focused around the Daylesford township.
Esteban has not been seen since he left his family holiday home around 3.30am Sunday morning.
His family yesterday told The Courier that the "family man's" disappearance was very out of character and that they were desperate to find him.
Earlier coverage on Wednesday:
"He is very well-loved by all that know him and we just want him home," a missing man's family has told The Courier.
Police today scaled up their search to locate a man who went missing from his family holiday home in Daylesford in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Local police along with the Police Air Wing, Dog Squad and State Emergency Services searched the vicinity of Albert Street and other locations around Daylesford for Esteban.
He was last seen about 3.30am on Sunday, 11 April.
His sister-in-law, Kristie Garrett, said the family was unsure exactly why Esteban left the family holiday home that morning - all they know is that he left the home and has not returned since.
"He got up from bed around 4am in the morning but [my sister] didn't realise that he left the house until she got out of bed about 7am," Ms Garrett explained.
With Esteban's phone switched off, his family was unable to reach him.
Esteban's concerned wife, Ms Garrett's sister, called her on Sunday morning.
Ms Garrett then travelled up from Melbourne to search the Daylesford area alongside some other family members who reside in the area, but to no avail.
Esteban, who left the home on foot, knows the area well. He has visited the area and stayed in the family holiday home with his wife for about 14 years.
He had been holidaying with his wife and two children when he disappeared.
"He's a big family man and this is totally out of the ordinary," Ms Garrett said.
Police and family hold concerns for Esteban's welfare as his disappearance is very out of character.
IN OTHER NEWS
Esteban, who resides in Patterson Lakes, is about 182cm tall with a medium build.
He has a chronic illness - fibromyalgia - which means he has a sensitivity to light and sound.
The condition also causes extreme fatigue so he often needs to take rest breaks when walking distances. He also has a slight limp when he walks.
His family is exceptionally worried due to the current cold conditions and the fact he has not taken his prescribed medication for a few days.
Esteban was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black 2XU puffer jacket and was carrying a green satchel and tan coloured water bottle.
Due to his condition he also often wears glasses, a hat, ear buds and fingerless gloves.
Ms Garrett said the family was very grateful for the community, who "had been great" assisting with the search so far.
"He is very well-loved by all that know him and we just want him home," his wife added.
Police have released an image of Esteban in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information on his current whereabouts.
Anyone who sees Esteban is urged to contact Triple Zero (000) and anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
