Jordan in the younger brother of Melbourne Victory player Brandon Lauton and Western United Leighton Lauton.
But he is making his own mark on the Ballarat City FC line-up, which will this week search for its first win of the season when it clashes with Box Hill United on Saturday at the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility.
Jordan said the game was in the blood.
"You call it the world game, and that's exactly what it is. It's fun to play, it's exciting, and we've all grown up with the game," he said.
"Watching the World Cup, we all got hooked and it's been with us always."
The 18-year-old midfielder has been a shining light in the early part of the season, despite the struggles the senior side has faced.
But the victory over the well-fancied Altona Magic in the fourth round the FFA Cup has installed a belief in the squad as they look to pick up their first points in the NPL North-West 3 league for 2021.
"We've had a really mixed bag of results so far," Jordan said. "It didn't help that we were very undermanned against Doveton, we were missing a few key players.
"If you look at the league, I don't think Doveton has lost a game yet, so we competed pretty well against a strong side.
"What the Altona game did show was that we could get the results.
"We've got some handy players coming back into the squad."
Jordan said he would love to get an opportunity to join brother Leighton at Western United if it presented itself, but joked he might need to grow another couple of inches to get that chance.
He said he didn't seek, nor receive, much advice from his brothers, preferring to concentrate on his own development.
"I'm 18 now, hopefully there's a bit of growth left in me. I'd love to get a chance down the track," he said.
He said with a few players likely to return this week, the side was confident of getting its first win on the board against Box Hill United, which itself has just one win from the three games played.
While the Ballarat City senior squad is yet to get a win, the pathway program is clearing working with the club's under 19s having scored two wins from its three games so far this season, and sitting just goal difference off second spot.
The action kicks off at Morshead Park at 1pm on Saturday with the under 19s games. The seniors follow at 3pm with the under 21s clash from 5pm.
