The Bushrangers smacked Geelong Falcons in the last round, but were not match for the Bendigo Pioneers in the opening round, setting up an intriguing contest.
A win could see the Rebels jump to the table.
Coach David Loader said the opportunity was there to set-up the season this week.
"After a really tight game against the Stingrays we will be looking to improve a few areas of our game that let us down last week, there is so much improvement still to come from our playing list," he said
"This week will be another opportunity to test ourselves against a team that is coming off a big win, it's a terrific opportunity to build a solid foundation to our season."
Meanwhile, a host GWV Rebels under 17 Boys have been named in initial Victoria Country under 17 squad.
The squad will play trial games this Friday in Melbourne against Victoria Metro with the list to be gradually reduced to the team that will travel to Queensland in July.
The young Rebels chosen include Vincent Huf (Hamilton Kangaroo's FC / Monivae College), Tristan Maple (Ballarat FC / Ballarat Grammar), Hugh Bond (North City FC / Ballarat Grammar), Felix Fogerty (East Ballarat / Ballarat & Clarendon College), James Clark (East Ballarat / St Patricks College), James Van Es (North City / St Patricks College) and Aaron Cadman (Darley).
