A roundabout at the troubled Ring Road and Gregory Street West intersection is on its way, and council has begun a traffic safety audit.

One person was taken to hospital on Wednesday evening following a two-car crash at the intersection, the latest in a string of incidents - Ring Road is an 80km/h route connecting Wendouree to Sturt Street West parallel to the Ballarat Link Road, while Gregory Street West has only recently reopened to Gillies Street traffic.
The City of Ballarat confirmed work is happening to fix the intersection, which had a confused reopening last year, and two crashes in a week in November.
"Funding for the Ring Road and Gregory Street intersection has been set for the 2021/22 (financial year) with funding coming from the Federal Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program," a council spokesperson said in a statement.
"(The traffic safety) audit will determine the best intersection layout from a traffic safety perspective. Survey and detail design work on the intersection will then commence with construction of the intersection expected to be completed by mid-2022.
"Further details around timing of the works will be clearer once the final design layout of the intersection has been determined."

Elsewhere in Ballarat, traffic lights on Sturt Street at Raglan Street will be activated "in the coming weeks" according to Regional Roads Victoria, one of the final high-risk CBD intersections modified in the past 18 months.
The Sturt Street shared path, on the southern side of the median gardens, is also expected to be finished soon, and the traffic lights at the Russell and Morrison street intersection of Sturt Street.
No date was provided for when the lights will be switched on.
