The club was waiting on scans to reveal the extent of Hoy's injury.
Hoy is the latest to join a long list of Lions sitting on the sidelines, with coach Jarrett Giampaolo admitting he's never experienced anything like it.
"I'm not 100 per cent sure what it was (with Liam). Maybe calf, or Achilles," Giampaolo said.
"He'll have to get scanned and we'll try and find out what happened.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We've got quite a long injury list at the moment. I've never had anything like this.
"We had to get top-up players. We had blokes who are not even at the club playing in the reserves and we've been bringing up under 19's.
"It is pleasing to get the win but the bye comes at a very, very important time for us to hopefully be able to get some guys back and start building a list again."
Redan has weathered the unavailability of several top-line players to enter with a 2-1 record.
Giampaolo, who rolled his ankle himself in the dying stages of the game, expected a couple of players to return to the fold in two weeks time.
"We'll get Dean Matthews back. Patrick Britt is around the mark and Chris Giampaolo, potenitally," he said.
"I'm not sure where Declan Phillips is at. There are a couple we're still sort of testing.
"Brandon Green will hopefully be back, so we'll probably get four or five back after the bye which will help."
Redan is not alone in its injury woes.
Its opponent at the weekend, Ballarat, has sunk to two losses since Andrew Hooper was benched with a hamstring complaint.
Elsewhere, premiership duo Aden Nestor (hamstring) and Jake McQueen (wrist) are still to feature for East Point this season.
League leaders Melton also lost Matt Denham (knee) last weekend.
