President Adam Liversage told The Courier it's been a long time coming but it's great to finally get teams on the field.
"It was a great turnout and I think really good for our local communities especially Smythesdale as well to have community football back on the oval out there, it was a really great atmosphere," he said.
"It was good to see up to around 1000 people out there Friday night.
"Got a really, really strong supportive committee and all the parents get involved as well.
"Local businesses getting involved as well, particularly the Haddon general store, (they) ran the canteen for us which was great, it was great to see some of our sponsors there as well."
