A police officer has been suspended and charged following a number of high-speed driving incidents around Ballarat.

The senior constable is alleged to have been caught speeding while on duty on two separate occasions last year.
The incidents occurred on consecutive days in April, 2020 but Victoria Police only released the information today.
He has been charged with exceeding a speed sign by 35km/h but less than 45km/h in Smythes Creek on April 17, 2020 and driving at a speed dangerous and exceeding a speed sign by 45km/h or more in Ballarat on April 18, 2020.
The 33-year-old man has been suspended and will appear at court at a later date.
Meanwhile, another dangerous driver has had their car impounded following a police operation last week.
On April 28, Creswick Police allegedly detected a driver travelling at 154km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Bungaree-Creswick Road in Creswick.
According to the Ballarat Police Eyewatch Facebook page, the 23-year-old Wattle Flat man can expect to lose his licence for at least 12 months, and had his car, a Holden Commodore, impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1425.
He will be charged on summons to appear before the Ballarat Magistrates' Court at a later date.
Police have already expressed their disappointment and frustration at Ballarat drivers following a four-day operation last week which caught 250 people allegedly speeding.
Operation Amadeus, which involved State Highway Patrol units focusing on the Ballarat area, also found 17 people detected driving with drugs in their system, while two people were detected drink driving.
One drug driver was caught speeding at more than 170km/h on the Western Freeway. His licence was immediately suspended and his car impounded. He will face court at a later date.
Another drug driver was detected travelling more than 40km/h over the speed limit in a 60km/h zone near Delacombe Town Centre. This driver, who was unauthorised, had their car impounded and will face court.

Failing to wear seatbelts was also an issue, with 19 people caught driving without buckling up. Police also nabbed 15 people using their mobile phones while behind the wheel.
A dozen drivers were detected driving unauthorised while eight vehicles were impounded for a period of 30 days. It will cost the drivers a significant amount to get their cars back.
Additionally, 13 people had their licences suspended on the spot.
