Joe Otto's side have endured one of the hardest schedules to start the season, not helped by their growing injury list through the first four rounds.
"We started really well, we had a really good first quarter. We potentially could have been out in front by a little more but we just didn't hit the scoreboard," Otto told The Courier.
"It was just very neck and neck all day and we were lucky enough to just get over the line.
"It was good for our boys, obviously we've got a fair few different injuries at the moment, so it was nice to be able to have some new guys in and get a win."
Springbank have been without assistant coach Andrew Challis, Billy Driscoll and recruit Isaac Pertzel at different stages, the latter still yet to return to the side.
At the weekend it didn't have the services of leading goal kicker Todd Finco or Zak Bozanich either.
Otto said getting a win without those two players gives his side a lot of confidence going into Beaufort in round five.
"I think it does just give you that bit of confidence, no one likes losing, it definitely gets harder," he said.
"This was a must win for us, hopefully we can string another one together this coming week against Beaufort."
Springbank will welcome the Crows to Wallace, the visitors fresh off an 83-point loss to Bungaree in round four.
They kicked 1.2 (8) for the day, all coming in the second quarter.
Beaufort now sits 15th on the ladder at 1-3 with a percentage of 32.34.
Springbank finds itself 12th at 1-3 following its win.
