Ballarat born-and-trained Australian Ballet dancer Callum Linnane's hard work has paid off with a promotion to senior artist with the Australian Ballet.

It's the second highest rank in the company meaning he will take on a mix of solo and principal roles in Australian Ballet productions.
COVID lockdowns and restrictions meant dancers spent much of last year taking classes at home with the company only recently returning to performing in theatres.
They return to the stage in Melbourne next month.
"After the year we had it's the biggest pleasure just to get out on stage in front of a live audience," he said.
Mr Linnane was among seven Australian Ballet artists to receive promotions.

Mr Linnane is now in his sixth year with the Australian Ballet, having first pulled on ballet shoes age 11 at Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts before winning a place at The Australian Ballet School.
