The footage obtained by The Courier shows the V/Line V/Locity train smashing through the wooden gates at full speed about 11.30pm on Saturday, May 30 2020.
The shocking footage appears to show a group of three pedestrians crossing the train tracks on foot just 49 seconds before the train roars across Lydiard Street.
Watch the video here.
According to the preliminary report into the crash released last October, the V/Line train sped through Ballarat station at 100km/h before hitting the gates at 93km/h due to a brakes failure.
The train also apparently crossed Humffray Street at 117km/h where the boom gates, bells and flashing lights were 'likely' operating.
It was only revealed two weeks ago that the gates would not be replaced, with boom gates instead to be installed.
