A SERIOUS injury to Ballarat SC goal keeper Luke Madden marred the the return to senior soccer in the Ballarat District Soccer Association at the weekend.

Madden was knocked out in the 12th minute of the clash with Forest Rangers at Morshead Park and an ambulance was brought onto the ground while he was cared for by paramedics.
The game was held up for nearly 40 minutes while the player was being tended to. He was taken to Ballarat Base Hospital in a stable condition with the club confirming on Monday he was doing 'okay'.
"These things happen not great but the player is doing okay" a club spokesperson told The Courier.
"At the moment we are just letting our players and the coach come to terms with it all as they are all quite close as a team."
After the delay, the game resumed with Ballarat's Tom Lannen scoring the only goal of the contest in the 32nd minute as Ballarat SC held on for a 1-0 win.
The game was one of just two Division 1 senior matches scheduled for the weekend with however no results were published for the Bacchus Marsh versus Ballarat North United clash.
Other matches including Vic Park versus Vikings has been rescheduled for Wednesday June 30 while the Warrnambool Ranges versus Daylesford match up has been planned for July 23.
Only one match was played in Division 1 women's competition with Vikings netting seven goals in a strong win over Ballarat SC 7-2.
Other matches in the round, Forest Rangers versus Creswick is planned for June 18 while Bacchus Marsh against North United is now planned for August 18.
