Eliza and Chloe are working with members of Compassionate Ballarat to create an e-book showcasing the stories of compassionate young people who have seen people suffering and taken action to help.

Compassionate Ballarat steering group member Denise White said the project was inspired by three compassionate young people she had met in the past few years.

One Ballarat girl is encouraging people to write letters to people experiencing homelessness.

She collects them in a designated letterbox and they are distributed to people sleeping rough in Ballarat.

One primary school student has created The Little Issue, a magazine sold to raise funds for The Soup Bus and provide a platform for young people to discuss social issues.

Another boy has worked to help the elderly during the coronavirus pandemic.

"We came across these three children in particular and thought there has got to be a lot more out there," he said.

"We are on the hunt at the moment for more children's extraordinary acts of kindness to include in the e-book."

The project team is working to release the book on the International Day of Peace in September.

Eliza and Chloe said they wanted to be involved in the project to promote kindness in the community.

"It's been a really great experience to see how many young people are carrying out compassionate acts in Ballarat and the impact that they are having," they said.

"We're so grateful to have this opportunity to work with the team at Compassionate Ballarat and are excited to see the impact these stories will have."

Ms White said Compassionate Ballarat would share the e-book with members of the global Compassionate Cities network.
