Youth Week is a celebration of young people in every state and territory across the country.

It's run for young people, by young people, showcasing and celebrating their talents and contributions to the local community.

Like many things last year, Youth Week 2020 did not go to plan, with many events either postponed or cancelled.

This year, Victorian Youth Week starts on Saturday 26 June and run to July 2, with some events continuing to pop up later that month.

So what's happening in Ballarat?

Tomorrow at Green Space, grassroots organisation Food is Free will join forces with the Ballarat Action Climate Co-Operative, a group of young climate activists, to celebrate the launch of their new garden bed. This plot will be handed over to them by the Food is Free team to grow food for and with the community.

The launch will include gardening demos, a compost workshop and talks on the environmental benefits of gardening.

The project is one of the recipients of the Victorian Government's Youth Week Grants, as part of its support of the statewide celebration. For details, visit eventbrite.com.au/e/157920952821.

The Ballarat Youth Services team will work with artist Diokno Pasilan to build an art installation that illustrates a creative way to address fast fashion and fashion waste.

Bring some old clothes to contribute to the artwork from June 28, or check it out at the launch on July 1 at 5pm at the Mining Exchange.
