Learmonth president Stephen Griffin told The Courier nothing was a certainty yet.
"There's (nothing) locked in, there's no definite, he has indicated that he was going to be available at some point during the year, things have changed dramatically since then," he said.
"We've still got four (home) games to go, whether it's possible or not, I couldn't even say it's 50-50 at the moment."
Griffin said the club is hoping Hodge can feature and remain in discussions with him around his availability.
The 37-year-old was originally scheduled to play for Learmonth in round one of the 2020 season but missed due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the season.
The Lakies sit 12th on the CHFL ladder through eight games with three wins and five losses.
They host Newlyn this weekend.
