A Warrak woman banned from being in charge of more than 35 animals after pleading guilty to animal neglect charges in 2019 is back in court, after inspectors allegedly found 79 cats on her property.
Christine Weisheit faced the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with a breach of the disqualification order.
The court was told RSCPA inspectors found 79 cats in a shed on her property in January 2020, and prosecutors say while not all the cats were registered to her, she was in charge of their day-to-day care.
Ms Weisheit's defence lawyers argued she was not the "person in charge" of all the animals, according to the legal definition.
The case was adjourned to July 15.
Weisheit was fined $11,000, with another $10,000 in costs, when the initial disqualification order was made in January 2019.
