"Both my parents passed away from cancer. I think everyone has someone in their family, or has a friend who has been affected by cancer," said Barry Plant agent Josh Coull, who is leading the property's sales campaign. "It is such a generous thing this family is doing, and considering the circumstances we made the decision to sell the house for free and not take any commission on the sale of the property."
Josh and Karen Coull and the Barry Plant Ballarat team garnered support from local businesses and suppliers to help prepare the property for sale, including styling, landscape gardening, painting and carpet laying. The Barry Plant team even helped out with painting and cleaning!
The three-bedroom brick veneer home now has a fresh fitout, including a new coat of paint and quality carpet. The meals area adjoins an undercover alfresco area, while the sun-lit family lounge room includes a split system air conditioner.
There's also gas hot water, a separate laundry, and a spacious shed that works effectively as a workshop or for those wanting to run a business from home.
"It's a fantastic cause and we're so proud to be part of it," said Josh. "Aside from the profits of the sale of the house going to the Austin Hospital, we're also encouraging everyone in the local community, or those who attend the auction, to put their hands in their pockets and donate to such a worthy cause."
